A Decade Of Delicious Brings About A Dapper Design (With A Focus On UX)

Started back in September 2003, social bookmarking site Delicious (previously known as del.icio.us) is celebrating their 10th birthday. Oh, and the present for this joyous occasion is being delivered to Delicious users. A new faster, easier to use service that bring the focus back to bookmarking has launched.

At the forefront of the changes is the fact that the entire Delicious site is displayed into a single, streamlined column. A good bit of user experience upgrades are included as well.

  • Tags and tag bundles are now accessible at the top of each page
  • Links now can be searched for or filtered by tag with just a click thanks to a dropdown underneath all links
  • Anytime a user double clicks a link it will now be saved to their existing bookmarks
  • The Discover feed is now personalized when a user connects their Twitter account
  • Comprehensive tagging tools to add multiple links at once
  • Personal tag clouds
  • Bookmark stats to find the first user to find the link
  • Personal tag clouds

The most recent (more cluttered) change to Delicious launched earlier this year. While the version looked slick, it strayed from the core purpose of Delicious — allowing users to bookmark and find great content. This change will be welcomed by hardcore users and will help them secure the social bookmarking niche.
