It isn’t good to watch users.

“It’s an ongoing challenge for marketers: users say they don’t like to be tracked, but they also say they prefer getting relevant ads and messages as they use the Web.” This will always be a never-ending dispute between website owners/ad owners and regular users. Users, obviously, don’t want to be tracked – fearing loss of their privacy – but at the same time, they don’t want be bothered by irrelevant ads. I think, it’s only a matter of time when users will realize that keeping track of their search history, etc. is – in the end – a good thing for them.

Education will be needed to make that happen, Anne. Seems like most of what the public hears about tracking is the scary, Big Brother angle.
