Facebook Sponsored Results: An Under-Explored Opportunity

About six months ago, Facebook introduced yet another type of ad for advertisers to try: the Sponsored Result. Marketers can serve Facebook users searching for Pages, Applications, and such with ads in the Search bar. As Facebook says, the goal of Sponsored Results is “... help [Facebook users] better find and discover the brands, products, and experiences relevant to them.” For advertisers, it’s a great way to increase exposure and to send more people on to your Page or Application.   The Details Sponsored Results ads do require some creative. Twitter Adds Videos To User Media Galleries

Twitter announced a couple changes to its interface today, the most interesting of which (in my opinion) is the addition of videos to media galleries. Media galleries were originally called User Galleries when they rolled out in Summer 2011. They show(ed) the 100 most recent photos that a user shared or retweeted. Twitter says videos from Vine, YouTube, Vimeo and other sources whose videos show in expanded tweets will show up in Media Galleries now. Brands that are actively tweeting quality images, or already adopting Vine, should welcome the expanded galleries as a place to collect more [...]

The next fastest growing networks were Facebook, Google+ and Russia's vkontakte. Surprisingly, Twitter's U.S. growth hasn't hit the saturation point and still grew 94% from Q2 to Q4. Apple-Samsung Patent Verdict Now Empty Footnote In Global Smartphone Contest

android-apple-ios For a time, it looked like Apple's $1 billion patent infringement verdict against Samsung would would rock the smartphone world. However, in the months since the landmark decision was handed down, it has proven to be little more than a symbolic victory. Courts and the US International Trade Commission have been loath to ban the import of Android devices regardless of infringement findings. Apple is thus left with its damages and the dubious, symbolic argument that its claims were vindicated by the courts. None of that means anything to the smartphone buying public. By duplicating the "tr [...]

Corralling Email Content To Create Value

[caption id="attachment_31999" align="alignright" width="270"] Image via shutterstock.com[/caption] There are a lot of supposed monarchies when it comes to email marketing. Depending on the conversation, content rules one day, the user holds the crown on the next, and data picks up responsibilities on weekends. With that many claims to the throne, you’d think messaging would be easier! In reality, they’re multiple facets of the same challenge: aligning content to balance sender and subscriber needs. So, how should we think about constructing messages that a subscriber finds intere [...]

AdBrite Ad Exchange Will Close Its Doors By End Of Month

The once popular advertising exchange adBrite is closing its doors on February 1st. AdBrite claimed to be the largest independent ad exchange with a transparent marketplace, yet won't be able to keep the doors open any longer. Custom Audiences May Be Facebook’s Most Compelling Ad Product

Facebook-Like One of the most powerful advertising vehicles available on Facebook will probably turn out to be its still little-known Custom Audiences tool. Introduced in August last year, Custom Audiences enables Facebook marketers to target their existing users based on Facebook ID, phone number or email address. Facebook says that it has taken pains to prevent user data from "leaking" and to safeguard privacy by hashing phone numbers and email addresses. It doesn't store third party data or otherwise add that data to user profiles. On the surface, the program will potentially seem scary to privacy [...]
