Pinterest has secured another round of funding, this one to the tune of $200 million. It values the image-based social network at $2.5 billion. AllThingsD broke the news this afternoon, and received this confirmation statement from Pinterest CEO Ben Silbermann: "Our focus is on helping millions of people discover things they love and get inspiration to go do those things in their life. Little Twitter is growing up, today announcing it will offer an advertising API for its Promoted Tweets and Promoted Accounts products, a development allowing marketers to buy and optimize Twitter ads alongside their other media buying. Pinterest and Instagram have become more than just a place for pretty pictures in the eyes of brands. In just three short months, top brand adoption of Pinterest and Instagram rose 10% and 9%, respectively, according to a study by SimplyMeasured. The next closest competitor, Google+ grew at just 4% during the same time period. Popular Twitter client Tweetdeck, just became even more powerful as a Twitter tool with new column filters. Tweetdeck rose to popularity, thanks, in part, to columns that allowed users to customize content by hashtag, lists, users and message types. The number of commercial emails opened on mobile devices is expected to be higher than PC-based emails by the end of the year. That's according to the latest bi-annual report from the digital marketing agency Knotice, which is based on a sampling of 500 million emails sent in 11 different industry verticals (such as retail, cable and telecomm, etc.). Curalate has expanded beyond its Pinterest-based roots to offer Instagram-based analytics and marketing tools. In doing so, Curalate says it's the first company to combine data from both Instagram and Pinterest in a single dashboard.
