Native Video Ads Drive Higher Brand-Lift Metrics When Compared To Pre-Roll Videos

Nielsen, a global information and measurement company, collaborated with Sharethrough, a native advertising company, on a performance study comparing the brand-building effectiveness of native video ads against pre-roll video ad units. The study found native video ads, user-initiated content-based videos contextually integrated into a site's natural experience, to be more effective at driving brand lift metrics than the industry standard pre-roll video ads that auto-play before user-selected video content. To conduct the study, Sharethrough worked with five advertisers, creating native a [...]

Follow The Roadmap To App Success

Appsgeyser roadmap to Android app success Dorothy isn't the only one who had to follow the Yellow Brick road to find her way home; we all need to follow a path to find our way to success, and the app market is no different. The app market for both iOS and Android is beginning to become overcrowded. Apple first opened its app store with a mere 500 apps in 2008, and now, the store comprises over 700,000 apps for the iPad and iPhone. Android hasn’t lagged behind, either. According to Statista, GooglePlay now boasts over 700,000 apps, too, growing from just 100,000 in the past two years alone. [caption id="attachment_34250" align= [...]

Coca-Cola Clarifies: Social Media Is “Crucial” & Drives In-Store Sales

coca-cola-featured A Coca-Cola executive threw cold water on social media buzz earlier this week when he told an advertising conference that the company doesn't see a relationship between online buzz and the company's short-term product sales. But the company has followed-up today with a clarification, saying that social is "crucial" and has been driving in-store purchases. As AdAge reported on Monday, Coke's Eric Schmidt (no relation to Google's Eric Schmidt) told the Advertising Research Foundation's Re:think 2013 conference that online buzz about the company only affected sales by about 0.01 percent. "W [...]

Yes, Digg Was Dropped From Google Briefly, Back Now

digg-logo-144px Some have noticed that pages from Digg were no longer appearing in Google today. Both the social media news site and Google confirm this was the case, due to mistaken malware issue. It's now been solved. Matt Sawyer tweeted that Digg seemed to be off Google earlier today, and it was picked up by State Of Search and even Hacker News. Digg: We're Not Malware Digg told us that the cause seemed to be that pages from Digg's previous life continue to link to content from across the web — some of which may become malware infected — which causes Digg itself to have issues with Google. Digg [...]

Google Gets A Battlestar Galactica Cylon

The Google Cylon Move over Stan, Google's pet T-Rex. Google's SpaceShipOne replica? More ancient history. The latest on the "things to see at Google" list might be the company's resident Cylon. That's right. Cylons are at Google. Googler Richard Hay posted a picture, spotted by Search Engine Roundtable, of Google's resident Cylon today on his Google+ account: [caption id="attachment_36762" align="aligncenter" width="336"] Cylon Nooger, by Richard Hay[/caption] It's wearing a "Noogler" hat, something a new employee at Google would get. The sign hung on it says its job title is "Cylon," that it went to [...]

Here Comes Another Button: “Send To Kindle”

amazon-icon The new "send to Kindle" button may not be just another button to put on your site or blog. Because of Amazon's brand and Kindle's reach (both hardware and software) it could, if publishers comply, see meaningful adoption by consumers. In Q3 last year Amazon created a Send to Kindle Chrome browser extension. (There's no data on how that performed.) But now Amazon seeks to expand Send to Kindle to Firefox, Android devices, email and the PC or Mac desktop. It also works on any device with Kindle software (i.e., iPhone, iPad): The Send to Kindle Button lets you easily send that content to you [...]

Hiring The Email Designer

Best practices and smart tactics go a long way, but the most important part of any successful marketing program – email or otherwise – is building the right team. So, what do you look for when hiring an email designer? Here’s a short list of key factors to help ensure you have the right folks on the job. Web Design Experience This first point is an easy but important one. The pool of applicants who will come in the door with the right email experience already in place is small; so, make sure your potential hire has front-end Web design experience, which will allow them to wear multi [...]

One such device is the Pebble smartwatch (pictured at right), which raised a record $10 million through kickstarter. It integrates with the iPhone and Android smartphones. Consumer Behavior Survey Finds Personalized Service Options Win Over Brand Loyalty

Branding Findings from a recent survey conducted by Harris Interactive and inContact, a provider of cloud contact center software, prove companies cannot rely on brand loyalty when it comes to keeping existing customers or winning new ones. The survey, conducted online February 11 through February 13, 2013 using a nationwide sample of 2,191 U.S. adults aged 18 years and older, examined changing consumer behavior trends and customer service preferences. Survey findings confirmed that consumers are less likely to make buying decisions based on brand loyalty, and more likely to choose a company that of [...]
