Confidence Crisis: 40 Percent Don’t Trust Online Reviews

Encourage Reviews Over the course of the past year, there have been a number of online review scandals. Most recently, there was a New York regulatory crackdown on fake reviews being generated by "reputation management" firms. It's unclear whether the publicity surrounding any of these events has eroded consumer confidence in online reviews and their authenticity. A recent Nielsen study indicated that online reviews were among the most trusted sources of information for consumers. And numerous consumer surveys have argued that Internet users routinely consult and rely on reviews to help make purchase decisi [...]

Pinterest Expands Rich Pins With New-Look Article Pins For Publishers

pinterest-logo Interesting move today from Pinterest: the company has announced a special pin style for article pins, as part of the rich pins feature that launched earlier this year. Article pins have both a publisher/brand angle, and a consumer angle. On the publisher side, Pinterest is pitching the new pin style as a way to extend the shelf life of online content. They're also promoting the new way that articles are presented in these pins -- headline, author and story description show right on the pin, and there's a more obvious link to the article source than you see on traditional pins. On [...]

And they think even less of their cohort: only 40 percent think their team colleagues are highly proficient in digital marketing. The study, titled Digital Distress: What Keeps Marketers Up At Night was commissioned by Adobe and produced by Edelman Berland, measures marketers' confidence in their own skills, effectiveness and ability to measure the impact of their digital efforts. Yet, from even more depressing stats such [...]

AdStage Aims To Bring Cross-Channel Ad Management To SMBs, Launches Partnership With ReTargeter, Unbounce And Others

AdStage Logo Kenshoo, Marin and Adobe: watch out, AdStage has you in its sights. Today at Advertising Week in New York, AdStage announced new efforts to loosen enterprise's grip on ad tech and give SMBs equal access to the benefits of an ad management platform. “We were frustrated by enterprise ad tools that locked out the bulk of advertisers with $100,000 monthly ad spend minimums, resource-intensive onboarding, and restricted access by forcing you to demo with salespeople to get started” says Sahil Jain, CEO and co-founder of AdStage, in the launch announcement. AdStage first launched its self [...]

Study: Nearly Half Of Mobile Users Will Share Location For Relevant Offers

mobile web smartphone Text-based mobile messaging has effectively become the "red-headed stepchild" of mobile marketing. Once the only mobile marketing that worked on all devices, it has lost favor over the past several years with the mass adoption of smartphones and the rise of mobile display. Under specific circumstances, however, SMS can be very effective as a mobile loyalty and engagement tool after a consumer opts-in to receive texts. A new survey of roughly 1,500 users in July from eight countries (US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Spain and Italy) finds that many consumers are recept [...]

5 Ways To Be More Transparent In Your Marketing

strategy We all understand the importance of transparency -- this past year alone, we've seen the titans of tech have transparency wars, and Google itself has committed to transparency as a core value. But why, if it's so important, do so many marketers fail to invest in transparency? There are a lot of excuses for keeping your cards close to your chest. Some include fear of losing control of the story, not having the time or resources to invest, or simply not feelin [...]

The video is sponsored by a brand. The network and Twitter each get a cut of the ad proceeds.  Amplify was originally introduced earlier this year. TV networks and entertainment companies aggressively market themselves on social media. However Twitter and its hasht [...]
