Demand Raging For Google Nexus 4 Android Handset

Except for the lack of LTE support there’s no question that the LG-made Google Nexus 4 is the best Android phone on the market. It kicks the Samsung Galaxy’s proverbial posterior. And at $299 for the unlocked 8GB version it frees you from the tyranny of carrier two-year contracts at a terrific price.

It’s simply a great phone. Others appear to agree.

The Nexus 4 is proving to be so popular Google is having a tough time keeping it in stock. The 16GB version is still available for $349 but the $299 8GB Nexus 4 is sold out again — apparently. This is according to messages on the Google Play website, which is now experiencing very high traffic volume.

Earlier today a new crop of Nexus 4 devices were made available to online shoppers. They appear to have rapidly sold out. However a message on the Google Play site (in contrast to the screenshot above) says the following:

That may refer to the more expensive 16GB version, however.

Even though the Nexus 4 doesn’t appear on the most desired gift list surveys this year, it’s proving to be an incredibly popular handset.

Google Wallet was producing numerous errors today, both on the merchant side and the customer checkout side. I don’t think that was a coincidence.

Got my Nexus 4 as soon as a San Diego T-Mobile store opened, then it sold out in less than 5 minutes https://plus.google.com/116106031844608765641/posts/Qj9DrT9ENyi . Sold out around the world in under 30 minutes, then T-Mobile is completely out of stock, and now the 2nd batch was sold out in minutes. Curious the number of units sold, I’m sure less than the iPhone 5, but the demand fervor reminds me of when the iPhone was head and shoulders above any phone way back in the day.

I figured Google would have ramped up after similar issues around the world when the Nexus 4 launched almost 2 weeks ago, perhaps it exceeded even that preparation. Love my Nexus 4 with no complaints. Plenty of iPhone 5s if you want settle for a lessor phone ;)
