A new iOS app is taking user activity and converting into another format. You may be thinking, this new format would be hardcore structured data, but you’d be wrong. Steven takes the user activity and converts into simple emojis. Users perform actions and based on their locations, their activities are updated in picture format.

The goal of this app is to simplify and automatically update all user actions for easy consumption by friends. An interesting feature that goes along with the app is the ability to comment (called reactions) on an image in a section. Of course the reactions for photos are also in emoji form with the option of adding text if a user would like.

While this may seem like another wacky social app, the mastermind behind it is the creator of Summize (which sold to Twitter back in 2008) and former Twitter Chief Scientist, Abdur Chowdhury. Mr. Chowdhury has since created the company Pushd, and Steven is the first public app to be launched by the company. According to TechCrunch, Pushd is backed by a few million dollars raised from angels and some investors (with the key investor being Betaworks.)

The beauty of the app is the simplicity. Users can see what their friend did all day by looking at a few cute pictures, clicking when they want more information. However, there may be privacy issues that arise with the location services updating user activities and reporting whereabouts while the app is running. However with the experience behind this app it may be one to watch in the local space.
