Enhanced User Profiles & Photo Maps Highlight New Instagram 3.0 Release
The ever growing social photo app Instagram announced a shiny new version 3.0 today. The key additions include upgraded user profiles, photo maps, infinite scrolling and smarter sharing. The new app is officially available today for both iOS and Android.
User Photo Maps
The most drastic change in the new version is the addition of visually appealing photo maps. This gives users a new way to browse on instagram as they users can showcase images at a specific location.
Each user will have the ability to create their own specific maps based on geotagged pictures (all previous pictures must be reviewed before being added to a map.) Users will also be able to view photo-maps of others. A full tutorial on the new addition is also available..
Enhanced User Profiles
The user profile page has been updated to display larger photos in the grid thanks to an endless scrolling format. The large-style photos are also carried throughout the exlopre, hadhtag and location pages.
The photo map option also takes up a large section of real estate on the profile page and the follow button has been accentuated.
As Facebook stated earlier this week, the push for proper intent is on. The new share allows for easier typing and longer captions to better explain/tag your picture. Photos can also be added to location maps painlessly with the click of a radio button:
Some other changes include performance updates as well as easier spam/abuse reporting. No new filters have been released with this update. For more information view the official Instgram video below, or download for yourself for iOS and Android phones.
