Facebook ‘Featured Story’ Ads Now Showing Directly In Users’ News Feeds

Last month Facebook announced that sponsored story ads would soon be integrated directly into users’ news feed.  It has been confirmed that these paid featured stories are now appearing in news feeds.  The ads will look quite similar to traditional wall posts with the ability to contain text and imagery.

The sponsored posts will feature a subtle label underneath the post with the phrase “Sponsored.”   As we first reported, these ads won’t have the same targeting ability as traditional Facebook ads.  Promoted messages will only pertain to friends people and brands that a user is connected to.   When we contacted Facebook last month we were also told:

Facebook hopes to show people no more than one Sponsored Story in their News Feeds per day and the story will be clearly labeled.

Facebook has added an additional help section to explain how the ads work  and to combat any uprising the ads may cause.
