Facebook Lookalikes go global with new update

You'll now be able to target people that look similar to lists of customers/leads in an entirely different country.

Since released more than 3 years ago, Facebook Lookalike Audiences have been the gold standard for matching like-minded audiences. A new release from Facebook is now bringing the powerful matching across borders – International Lookalike Audiences.

This new resource will give marketers the ability to target international audiences similar lists of customers or leads. Simply upload a custom audience list (at least 100 people from a country) then target the audience to a specific country. A full list of targeting options can be found in the Facebook Business section.

According to Facebook, the reach, regularity and globalization of users position this as a very desirable feature:

More than 1 billion people on Facebook are connected to at least one business in a foreign country, and 1.57 billion people visit Facebook monthly on mobile. In the US, 60% of people on Facebook are connected to a business in a foreign country.

To help marketers achieve success Facebook has also launched a “Cross Border Handbook” (user input required) that breaks down user behavior across 10 of the most active countries on Facebook.
