Facebook Prods Admins To Keep Tabs On The Competition With New “Pages To Watch” Module

For all of those Facebook Page administrators who thrive on competition, this newest test seen in the wild is for you. Some Page admins are now seeing a new “Pages to Watch” module that shows competitive pages that they can watch.

PagesToWatch

The functionality of this element looks to add pages to the specific watch section where they’ll be able to see like data from each. Additionally, the feature promises to offer tips (I’d guess Facebook Ads will be quite prevalent) to keep up with the Joneses.

The module specifically states:

“Track the progress on any pages you want to watch. You’ll see how many likes they get and receive tips on how to keep up.”

When clicked, the admin is shown competitors along with descriptions, and like numbers. A button exists that allows users to instantly add to their Pages to watch.

This just appeared for me so of course I started messing with it. :) One big caveat that Facebook does NOT mention is that it notifies admins of any page you elect to “watch.” Andy Beal took a screenshot of it here after I added Trackur: https://twitter.com/AndyBeal/status/372801776535502848

Exact same reaction lol in the big arena it might not be a big deal, but when you’re watching companies that are in a small town, it makes a difference.
