Filter Content, Keywords & Media With New Column Filters From Tweetdeck

Popular Twitter client Tweetdeck, just became even more powerful as a Twitter tool with new column filters. Tweetdeck rose to popularity, thanks, in part, to columns that allowed users to customize content by hashtag, lists, users and message types. As of today, columns can do even more with new Tweet filtering options that allow users to include/exclude words, media and even retweets.

The new filters can be accessed by clicking on the edit button at the top right of the column and have four main filtering options:

  • Showing – This can be switched from showing – All Tweets, Tweets With Images, Tweets with Videos, Tweets with any Media (images + videos) or Tweets with Links
  • Matching – This will show only Tweets with specific words in the Tweet content
  • Excluding – This will omit Tweets that contain a specific word
  • Retweets – Don’t like to see other’s Tweets? Now retweets can be excluded with this filtering option

This can be a huge deal for those brands and marketers who rely on Twitter searches as part of their social plan. My favorite part of the enhancements is the image search. Now, users can look for Tweets that contain images around events, brands, or other activities like this example:

Look for these changes in the most recent version of Tweetdeck. For more information see the official blog post.
