Google Glass — Google’s smart glasses project — have headed into the new world of fashion. Designer Diane von Furstenberg and others used them to record during the DVF Spring 2013 Fashion Show on Sunday.

What’s been recorded, including live shots taken during the show, were to be on September 13, through the DVF Google+ page and Google’s own YouTube channel. However, one video has already surfaced, and the DVF page has begun posting images, including this one take from the catwalk:

Here’s the Google & DVF release we were sent:

Today we’re thrilled to collaborate  with the visionary and celebrated designer Diane von Furstenberg. For the past week, we’ve been using Glass to capture the DVF creative process from entirely new perspectives.

Soon you’ll get a glimpse into what it’s like to design, prepare and experience the DVF show at New York Fashion Week through Diane’s eyes and a few other views.

The short film ‘DVF through Glass’ will be released on Thursday, September 13 on the DVF Google+ page (google.com/+dvf) and Google’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/google). We will also post exclusive images from Glass to the DVF Google+ page live during the show. #DVFthroughGlass

“I am so excited to introduce Glass to the fashion world and use this revolutionary technology to give everyone a unique perspective into fashion.” – Diane von Furstenberg

“Beauty, style and comfort are as important to Glass as the latest technology.  We are delighted to bring Glass to the runway together with DVF.” – Sergey Brin, Google co-founder.

This is the first time that I know off that the Google Glass has been widely used by those outside of Google, unless you count the skydivers wearing them during their jump into the Google I/O developers conference earlier this year.

Postscript: Thanks to Zato in the comments below who noted a video of models out already wearing them. Here are some stills from the video showing the glasses being worn, followed by the video:

And at 1:14 in, you can clearly see Google cofounder Sergey Brin himself in the audience smiling and wearing the glasses:

This is my favorite scene, when you can see Brin watching (and wearing the glasses) as one of the models wearing them comes out:

The at the end, Brin, Furstenberg and someone I should know if I knew fashion take a walk all wearing the specs:

DVF has also begun releasing some high-quality images through its Google+ page, such as the one at the opening of this post. I like this one especially for the glasses going so well with the color of the top and handbag:
