The star feature of Google+, Google Hangouts, is now integrating fully with Google’s online suite of document, presentation and spreadsheet editing software, Google Docs.  This is a very interesting combination as it could have substantial collaboration benefits in both the education field and the workspace.

Docs Hangout1

Google Docs has quickly become a go-to tool for small groups as users can edit together, track changes and share seamlessly.  With hangouts, users will be able to chat, view each other all while making the edits to documents & spreadsheets that they are accustomed too.

To start your own Doc inside of a hangout simply:

  • Click on the Docs button
  • Add an existing document, or upload a new one
  • View uploaded documents in the left side of the window
  • Choose to toggle between and collaboratively edit multiple documents at once
