Leaked: Google Analytics Is Making Its Way To Google+

Google Analytics has continually beefed up with social data and full Google+ integration may be right around the corner.  The Dutch website Dutchcowboys found some official (and confidential) slides from an official Google deck showing how to connect a Google+ page with Google Analytics.  In addition, Arvid Bux discovered the full confidential deck showing more screens about the full integration of + & Analytics.

The slides show a very simple integration between Google+ and Analytics that occurs by entering one’s analytics code to a new tab in your page’s settings.  This works with current Google Analytics tracking, or a new GA account can be created directly within Google+.

The total number of visits, pageviews, average time on the site and bounce rate will reportedly be measured.  Users can also see analytics directly within Google+ buy clicking on a new top navigation button (next to circles).  Currently there is no way to track any Google+ page activity other than viewing post sharing, “social engagement” or +1/share data.

Google Analytics has been making a strong push for more social data as of late.  However, they are without the help of Twitter & Facebook.  Some recent social media improvements to Google Analytics have been the addition of the following:

They need to focus on cleaning up Google Analytics’ data, not integrating it into more platforms.  The misidentification of crawlers as mobile or legitimate traffic is infuriating.  Get off your butts and do something about the crawlers, GA TEAM!

You would think Google Marketing team would have some screenshots of the latest version of GA in their slide deck…

Analytics will make Google+ more useful to marketers and businesses, but I still wonder when the “masses” are going to jump on the Google+ bandwagon. It’s definitely growing, but for the most part it’s still marketing/tech people. For Google+ to be really successful, Google needs to get John Q Social Networker on board.

Adding here that Websonic discovered the full package. It is not me. So Arvid Bux linking to websonic is not correct :)
