William Shatner Boldly Goes Into Facebook Mentions App For Celebrities, Calls It “Ill Conceived”

800px-William_Shatner_02_(7559659118) Actor William Shatner is exactly the type of celebrity Facebook is catering to with the launch of the Mentions app last week. Active, engaged and social media savvy, Shatner has a Facebook Page with nearly 800,000 likes. He even seems to run the page and his other outspoken social media efforts himself, unlike many celebs who hide behind publicists. ICANN Parks The Domain Registry Of America, Termination May Be Coming

Icann domain If you've ever registered a domain name, you're likely acutely aware of the Domain Registry of America. The company is notorious for the incessant mailing of deceptive renewal letters that essentially trick users into renewing with the Domain Registry of America (DROA) (many times at a much higher price) instead of renewing with the company where the domain was initially required. These mailings however may be stopping soon. ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has suspended Brandon Gray Internet Services (dba namejuice.com) the company behind the DROA. Brando [...]

MarTech: Technology Management As A Marketing Discipline

martech_570x280 As marketers, we've had a slightly conflicted relationship with technology. The culture, philosophy, and mental models of marketing have been largely driven by "soft science" -- psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics -- and an even broader notion of "art." We pride ourselves on the power of creativity, design, and language to affect people's emotions, perceptions, and behaviors. As a profession, we're really good at applying those talents to grow brands and businesses. Collectively, however, our profession has been less adept at engineering. Processes, systems, and technol [...]
