Now You Can Tell Facebook Friends Where You’re ‘Traveling To’

fb-travelnew Facebook has added "Traveling To" to its roster of feeling-and-doing status update options. Now people can share their travel plans with friends in a Facebook-official manner. The feature is accessed by the smiley-face icon on status updates from the desktop and mobile apps. Among the other choices:  Feeling, Watching, Reading, Listening To, Eating, Playing. Currently, sharing a Traveling To status won't change the information that Facebook serves users, but we can imagine future enhancements that will tailor your experience to the place you are visiting. Simply Measured Offers Facebook Insights With Ads Report

SimplyM3 Social media analytics provider Simply Measured is now offering its customers a Facebook report that merges analytics for organic and paid posts on the social network. Simply Measured said it is the first metrics platform to provide such a report: "Because of the intricacy and manual effort involved with stitching multiple Facebook APIs together (it takes one of our customers a day and a half each week!), most social marketers currently report on paid media separately from the rest of their fan page performance." As the sample chart above shows, the report gives a top-level reading o [...]

Ubisoft ‘Exploits’ Your Online Profile To Tout New Game

ubisoft_dogs If you've ever taken a moment to sit down and give long, hard thought to all the information you've placed in the cloud since the dawn of the internet, you'd probably end up like one of those mental patients in American Horror Story Asylum. It's kind of scary the trust we place in the intertubes. Perhaps as a reminder to this and, of course, to promote their new Watch Dogs game, Ubisoft is out with DigitalShadow, a site that scrapes your publicly available information from Facebook, the US Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor and Statistics to paint a true picture of who you are, who y [...]

Reading Keywords’ Future In Interactive Marketing

shutterstock_120330325-crystalball If you think keywords have any place in the next-generation, digital marketing world, you’d be mistaken. If you haven’t taken notice of recent announcements about keyword restrictions, you really should take a minute or two and have a look. Right now, Google is moving away from providing third parties with the depth of data it once did. With the change, advertisers will be more dependent on Google itself for data. The once laughed off “never gonna happen to search ads” comparison to organic Not Provided is suddenly less funny. As is often the case, search marketers focus on wh [...]

You Need More Than Just Google Analytics To Succeed Online

analytics-featured If you want your online business and campaigns to succeed, Google Analytics will not meet all of your measurement needs. That may seem like crazy thinking because GA has a huge array of capabilities. However, there are many areas where we have better tools for understanding visitor behavior such as interaction, user sentiment and impact from change. Without using these tools to gain insight, you will not be as successful as you can be. So, if GA isn't enough, where do we turn for gaining the insights we need into visitor behavior? I wish there was a single tool with everything ne [...]

Why You Suddenly Lost All Those Google+ Followers

google-plus-analytics-featured On March 25, many Google+ brand accounts noticed a big dip in followers displayed on profile pages. In fact, Marketing Land decreased by 20%, even Search Engine Land decreased by 40%. Initially some have thought that this was a "spring cleaning" of spammy Google+ accounts following profiles pages; however, it's really pulling out the followers from a combined follower and +1 number. Google+ brand pages, until recently, didn't show a true follower count, and Google+ badges still don't. [caption id="attachment_80167" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Average growth of number of followers as [...]

Tumblr, which has included Curalate among its "A-List" preferred partners, is an especially valuable network for mining visual insights because of the 130 million photos shared there daily. And according to Curalate, [...]

Twitter UK Creates #OwnTheMoment Tool To Help Real-Time Marketers

#OwnTheMoment 2014-04-15 12-15-53 2014-04-15 12-17-30 Whether you call it real-time marketing, newsjacking or joining the conversation surrounding a news event, marketers are looking for opportunities to insert their brands into online banter about current events. Typically, the successful examples, like Oreo's tweet during the 2013 Super Bowl blackout or Arby's shout out to Pharrell Williams and his hat during the 2014 Grammy's, can be traced back to smart advance planning. To help with that task, Twitter recommends creating a detailed editorial calendar, and its United Kingdom and Ireland small and medium business team has created an inte [...]
