Bitly Warns About Compromised Accounts, Disconnects Facebook & Twitter For All Users

Bitly Fish Bitly, a popular link shortener used by many in the marketing industry, issued a warning late Thursday that accounts may have been compromised. The company has taken steps to minimize any damage, and is asking users to reset accounts for added security. In its announcement, Bitly says that there's no indication that any accounts have been accessed without permission, but "users’ email addresses, encrypted passwords, API keys and OAuth tokens" may have been compromised. What Will Yahoo Buy With Its Alibaba Billions?

The company is required to sell half its remaining roughly 23 percent of Alibaba. Yahoo bought a 40 percent stake in Alibaba in 2005. The company was then worth $2.5 billion. Omnicom & Publicis Merger Dead: CEOs Blame Differences In Opinions & Cultures

Levy and Wren Reuters reported this morning that the merger between Omnicom and Publicis is off the table. Originally announced in July, the Omnicom-Publicis deal would have resulted in the largest advertising agency in the world, with Publicis CEO Maurice Levy claiming at the time, "This is a new company for a new world." Apparently neither of the agency CEOs were ready for a new world. In the Reuters report, Levy said he disagreed with Omnicom's desire to appoint their own staff to lead executive roles. AOL, Google, Facebook, Twitter Launch TrustInAds.org To Take On Ad Scams

TrustInAds.org In an effort to address the plague of deceptive advertising which pocks the online ad industry, several of the biggest players are pooling their resources. Marin Software Names David A. Yovanno As CEO, Reports Q1 Revenue Up 33 Percent

Marin Software logo Today, Marin Software announced David A. Yovanno will be filling the CEO role being vacated by founder Chris Lien, who will assume the role of Executive Chairman. The company also released its first quarter earnings report for 2014, showing revenues increased 33 percent to $22.8 million, up from $17.2 million the previous year. Lien founded Marin in 2006. Google’s Canadian Chief, Chris O’Neill, To Take Over Google Glass Business Operations

Top eBay Affiliate Sentenced To 5 Months In Prison For Wire Fraud

ebay-logo-240px eBay's top-earning affiliate, Shawn Hogan, has been sentenced to five months in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of wire fraud, Business Insider reported this morning. Hogan must pay a fine of $25,000 and will remain on supervised release for three years after his prison term is completed.
