TheNativeHighway Recently, my company, The 614 Group, joined forces with content advertising leader OneSpot to conduct a study in which we surveyed almost 500 marketers during May and June about their native advertising intentions. Unsurprisingly, we discovered they have a significant interest in the emerging native advertising format, with 67 percent calling it "interesting and valuable," and 22 percent predicting that it is "where all online advertising is headed." Only nine percent labeled it "a fad soon to be forgotten." Powerful stuff. Deeper into the findings that we unearthed, we found even mo [...]

mobile-devices-trends The latest smartphone shipments (not sales) figures from IDC shows Chinese hardware OEMs making gains against market leader Samsung and Apple to a lesser degree. According to IDC, Q2 saw a new "single quarter record of 295.3 million [global smartphone] shipments." Huawei and Lenovo appear poised for further marketshare gains in the future. Lenovo's Motorola unit is rumored to be working on a Nexus "Phablet" with Google featuring a nearly 6-inch screen. Ironically, when it owned the company, Google wouldn't have used Motorola to create a Nexus-branded device, given its commitment to [...]

Dead On Inbox Arrival: Study Shows Purchased Email Lists Aren’t Worth A Dime

email-at-symbol-800 There are plenty of reasons why you shouldn't be purchasing email lists for your marketing efforts, like the whole legality of it. Besides the Federal violation and potential fine, a recent study from email marketing provider, MailChimp showed that scraped, stolen, purchased or rented lists simply don't work. Using data from their MailChimp's anti-abuse system, graphs were created around key metrics and the correlation of public lists: The data shows that with more public emails the open rate becomes non-existent, the unsubscribes increase and the overall click rates submarine. Additional [...]
