eBay: Google SEO Changes Hurt Core Business And Revenues

The company earned $0.69 per share (vs. $0.68 expected) against revenue of $4.37 billion (vs. $4.38 billion expected). Former Google, Apple Executive RJ Pittman Joins eBay

new ebay logo Online commerce giant eBay announced Friday that it had hired RJ Pittman as Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer for Marketplaces. His role, which is newly created, does not include PayPal. Pittman was most recently in charge of worldwide e-commerce at Apple. He occupied that role since 2010. Before Apple Pittman was at Google where he presided over a wide range of properties and projects during his three years there. Amazon And eBay Same Store Sales Growing Faster Than Overall Ecommerce

Amazon & Ebay Marketplace growth outpaces overall ecommerce market ChannelAdvisor's August report on Same Store Sales (SSS) shows that, despite slight dips from July, Amazon and eBay continue to show stronger growth than the ecommerce market as a whole. Amazon SSS rose 24 percent in August while eBay SSS increased by 19 percent, compared to 16 percent growth for overall ecommerce (excluding travel) in Q2 as reported by comScore. Apple Remains Most Valuable Brand, While Facebook Falls & Yahoo Returns To Top 100 [Brandz]

brandz-top-100 Apple is once again listed as the most valuable brand on earth, while Google inched closer to the top spot and Microsoft fell out of the top five in the 2013 Brandz Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands. Retargeting To EBay Shoppers Now Possible

Like Amazon, Facebook and Google, eBay is sitting on a huge trove of proprietary customer data. Unlike those other online giants, eBay had not made that data available for ad targeting by marketers. Until now. AdWeek reports eBay is following Amazon's lead in monetizing customer data.
