Top Apps Vary From Apple To Google To Amazon’s App Store

smartphone-shutterstock Earlier today, Apple published its list of top paid and free apps for 2013. Yesterday Nielsen reported its top US smartphone apps list (Android + iPhone). Now comes Distimo's "year in review" global ranking of apps, which also includes Amazon's tablet-only app store. What's striking is how different the app lists are from one another. For example there are only three apps common to all of the free lists: Candy Crush, Temple Run and Facebook. Apple Best of 2013 Like everyone else Apple has released its year-end top lists. Below are the top iOS apps, including top free and top paid apps for both the iPhone and iPad. The lists are a mix of "incumbents" and "insurgents." Pandora remains in the top 10 (12 on the iPad list) and YouTube was number two on both free lists. The paid lists were all about games. Facebook No. 1 Mobile App Of 2013 But Google Has 5 Of Top 10

By comparison comScore says the figure is 62 percent. Regardless it means there are now more than 150 million smartphone users in the US. Google Is Most Visited Site Of 2013, Despite Big Drops In Desktop Traffic [Nielsen]

That's according to Nielsen's look at the top digital brands of the year, just published today. The data covers U.S. desktop web traffic from January through October of this year. For Google, that average monthly audience is a six percent drop from 2012. What Does The Fox Say? With 276 Million Views, “The Fox” Wins Top Trending Video On YouTube For 2013

The video has earned more than 276 million views since it was posted September 13.
