Report: July Release Of Foursquare App To Include Personalized Coupons

Report: Foursquare Plans Ad Platform Launch In June

foursquare-icon Location-based check-in service Foursquare is planning to launch an advertising platform this summer, according to an Ad Age article citing "a person familiar with the matter." According to the report, the new functionality will be a part of the company's merchant platform, which currently allows businesses to claim their profile on the service and offer coupons or other check-in rewards called "specials". Official: Facebook Grabs Gowalla, Will Deploy Personnel To Timeline

facebook-gowalla-featured CNN Monday reported this afternoon that Facebook has bought social cityguide and check-in app Gowalla. Gowalla has a presence in roughly 60 cities globally. It was well-loved by a core of devotees but lost momentum and mindshare to larger rival Foursquare. Gowalla had two million registered users vs. Foursquare's 10 million.
