Report: Driven By EU Sales, iPhone Regains Share In Q1

smartphones-600px According to new data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the iPhone has regained some market share with strong sales in Europe, Japan and Australia in the first quarter of 2014. This was echoed in better than expected iPhone sales growth in last week’s quarterly earnings from Apple. Tumblr Appoints “Director Of Media,” Has Twitter Envy

Sistani Tumblr Facebook, Twitter and Google are all increasingly vying for TV and entertainment industry money. And the competition is intensifying. Pinterest Dominates Social Referrals, But Facebook Drives Higher Performance [Study]

Social Analysis Firm DataShift Lands Real-Time Tumblr Data Stream

DataSift Tumblr has been making quite a few tactical  maneuvers since being purchased by Yahoo! in May. Today they've solidified a deal with DataShift, a data analysis & analytics company. DataSift users will now have access to the full Tumblr firehose of 5.5 billion global interactions. Marketers will be able to use this Thumblr data to view industry insights, brand knowledge and audience information. Study: How Big Brands Are Using Tumblr

tumbler While Tumblr now has over 100 million blogs, it is still the most overlooked social media network for brands. Currently, only 31% of the top 100 brands have adopted a Tumblr account. Social media analytics and reporting platform Simply Measured performed a study showing just how these top brands were performing and some of the tactics employed. Tumblr Expands Sponsored Posts To Desktops

Tumblr is bringing its sponsored posts to the Web. This does not signal a big change in strategy nor a sign of Yahoo's new power over the blogging site since acquiring it for $1.1 billion nearly two weeks ago. This is an extension of the native ad unit Tumblr rolled out on its mobile apps for iOS and Android at the end of April and said they would be bringing to the Web. Pew: 94% Of Teenagers Use Facebook, Have 425 Facebook Friends, But Twitter & Instagram Adoption Way Up

Yahoo Buys Tumblr For $1.1 Billion, Promises “Not To Screw It Up”

What’s Tumblr Worth To Yahoo? Board Says $1.1 Billion.

tumbler AllThingsD reports the anticipated Tumblr acquisition was approved by Yahoo's board today for the amount of $1.1 billion. Kara Swisher from AllThingsD said the deal was a "foregone conclusion and was an unanimous vote" by Yahoo's board. They plan to announce the deal tomorrow, Monday, morning. This will be Marissa Mayer's largest acquisition as the CEO of Yahoo. It appears Tumblr will remain as a standalone brand, similar to the Flickr brand.
