Want to make sure that all of your friends know you bought that car, got that job or are doing fine in your relationship? Well, thanks to an expanded test, you may be able to ensure that your friends see your most important posts — for a price.

Kristel Cuenta of Kairay Media spotted the expanded test in the wild that prompted her to promote a recent image to all of her connections. The promotion language states:

“Now you can promote posts and bump your important news, links and photo higher in news feed”

If the test has expanded to your profile, you will see either a call-out, or a “promote” button next to the standard share button on a post:

The promotion costs are relative to the size of your audience. In this case, the promotion cost ended up at $1.30. Payments can be made in 11 different formats, with the most common type being PayPal.

We contacted Facebook on the tests and received the following statement from a Facebook spokesperson:

“We are expanding a test that started last May that enables people to pay to promote a status update so that more friends may see it in their news feed. We’re constantly testing new features across the site. This particular test is simply to gauge people’s interest in this method of sharing with their friends.”
