I really like the app Mark. However, when I tested it out on one of my shows, the audience didn’t seem to like it because of the pop out screen. It made it more difficult for them to comment in the event page.

But I love this! When I did it I sent people to my subscribe page. While most people were griping about it, they still clicked the link!

Yes, as I noted in my article, the app does force you to make a strategic decision for your hangout. If your primary goal is live interaction with and engagement from your audience, it’s probably not best to use Showcase. But if you’re primarily after sales or leads or site traffic, then Showcase can be ideal.

Nice writeup on using the Showcase app Mark (and thanks for the kind mention and link to my post). One idea I have for use of the app is to feature a set of links to videos. As you say here we can add YouTube videos as items to be clicked in the app… let’s say we know that things change when they are online. Well the Showcase app can allow for more Evergreen content.

You can state in the Hangout on Air broadcast, “The video links on the sidebar represent the latest summary we have come up with when it comes to the 3 most important aspects of Google Authorship”.

Then you feature 3 video links via the Showcase app. When one or more of the videos need to be updated, you create the new video content and then you as the host, can go back and change out the link in the App long after the initial HOA was created.

You’d want to keep the HOA portion generic enough to stand the test of time, but you can get very specific with the details in the linked videos via the Showcase app since you can always go back and replace them with an updated version.

    You like?

Ronnie, thanks for that information. I did not know you could edit the links even after the live show is finished. That’s a very useful tip!

It is an evergreen tip, useful and long lasting. You’re quite welcome. Hope you find ways to use it to your advantage.
