Marketing Day: January 30, 2013

Here’s our daily recap of what happened in online marketing today, as reported on Marketing Land and other places across the Web.

From Marketing Land:

  • Facebook: Mobile Daily Users Exceed PC Users Facebook said that for the first time in Q4 2012 daily mobile users exceeded daily PC users. The press release quote from CEO Mark Zuckerberg was: “In 2012, we connected over a billion people and became a mobile company.” See the related story: Facebook Posts $1.58 Billion Q4 Revenue, $5 Billion For The Year. As [...]
  • Facebook Posts $1.58 Billion Q4 Revenue, $5 Billion For The Year Facebook released Q4 and full year results for 2012. The company posted $1.585 billion in quarterly revenue, representing an increase of 40 percent YoY. Full year revenues were $5.09 billion. Ad revenues were $1.33 billion or 84 percent of total quarterly revenue, which was a 41 percent increase over 2011. Mobile revenue represented 23 percent of [...]
  • Twitter Adds Videos To User Media Galleries Twitter announced a couple changes to its interface today, the most interesting of which (in my opinion) is the addition of videos to media galleries. Media galleries were originally called User Galleries when they rolled out in Summer 2011. They show(ed) the 100 most recent photos that a user shared or retweeted. Twitter says videos [...]
  • Twitter Now The Fastest Growing Global Social Platform, 21% Of The Internet Population Are Active Users According to a report from GlobalWebIndexOne Pinterest may have dominated U.S. Growth in 2012, but Twitter had the largest global growth. In 2012, monthly worldwide active Twitter users grew 40% from Q2 to Q4, nearly a 288 million user increase. The new number means that 21% of the global worldwide population are active users. The [...]
  • Apple-Samsung Patent Verdict Now Empty Footnote In Global Smartphone Contest For a time it looked like Apple’s $1 billion patent infringement verdict against Samsung would rock the smartphone world. However in the months since the landmark decision was handed down it has proven to be little more than a symbolic victory. Courts and the US International Trade Commission have been loath to ban the [...]
  • Corralling Email Content To Create Value There are a lot of supposed monarchies when it comes to email marketing. Depending on the conversation, content rules one day, the user holds the crown on the next, and data picks up responsibilities on weekends. With that many claims to the throne, you’d think messaging would be easier! In reality, they’re multiple facets of [...]
