A new Facebook ad type has been created specifically for those developers who are looking to promote their apps. The new mobile targeting will allow developers to promote app installations to the 543 million active Facebook mobile users. Over the past 30 days alone Facebook has sent people Google Play or the App Store 146 million times; these new ads will only help to grow those numbers.

In order to be eligible, advertisters need to have their app on the Facebook App Center. Developers can then navigate to their Apps page and click “Promote” on the side navigation.  First, the targeting must be set up:

The next step is to set the budget. It should be noted that the web version of the mobile apps is stripped down and more options will become available in Power Editor:

Once ads are up and running, admins can check back to the Promote tab on the App page to monitor their results:

This new ad unit is currently in beta, users can sign up to participate on the official form.
