Official: Google Approves The Marketing Land Google Glass App

How’s this for felicitous timing? Just days after Google Glass does its first public sale, which sells out all available units, the newest official Glassware added to the Glass app directory is our very own Marketing Land for Glass.

The app offers the latest internet marketing news as reported by the Marketing Land crew delivered directly to your Google Glass, ready to be read — actually, listened to! — at your convenience.

Marketing Land for Glass offers

  • “Read Aloud” functionality so you can get our news via audio; no need to try reading lengthy text on the display screen
  • the ability to customize what types of articles you want to receive from Marketing Land

Marketing Land for Glass is free, and can be installed from the Glassware Directory or via our dedicated site at glass.marketingland.com.

How To Install

Installation is a breeze. The first step is to activate our Glassware (via either of the links above). The app will ask for permission to “view and manage” your timeline and “view basic information” about your account.

After connecting, you’ll be able to customize the content we send to your timeline. The default option is to “Subscribe to all Marketing Land Channels,” because we know you’ll love all of our daily news and features. But if you prefer, you can pick and choose the channels that interest you most — with options including Analytics, Content Marketing, Display Advertising, Email Marketing, Search Marketing, Social Media and more.

Note: We think the best experience is to “subscribe all” because each article we write is put into just one channel. So if you subscribe to the Mobile Marketing channel, but we publish an important article about Facebook mobile ads and classify it in the Social Media channel, you’ll miss that news. And because we publish each article into just one channel, you won’t get duplicate articles in your Glass timeline.

Reading Marketing Land for Glass

Marketing Land for Glass will start sending articles to your Glass timeline shortly after you’ve finished installation.

Depending on how busy the news day is, we typically publish between six and 15 articles. When more than one article is published in close time proximity, our app will group the articles together in a single card so as to not clog up your timeline.

When a new Marketing Land article arrives in your timeline, you can click to access the read aloud option.

Pretty easy, isn’t it?

As we’ve said before, we know that the vast majority of our readers don’t (yet) have Google Glass, but that’s okay. We’ve created Marketing Land for Glass because it’s a great way for us to get first-hand experience about how content-based brands can use Glass to build and reach their audience.

Again, you can install it via the official Glassware directory or via glass.marketingland.com.
