Pinterest just made it easier for customers to reach your business on Pinterest, and you don’t have to do anything to reap the benefits.

Starting this week, users of the Pinterest iOS app will be able to make phone calls and get directions to brick-and-mortar locations from within the app. They will also be able to see store hours and tips left by previous visitors.

The new feature is an extension of Pinterest Place Pins, which launched two years ago. Pinterest said today in a blog post that it is automatically pulling in location information for Pins and now has nearly seven billion Place Pins.

Pinterest pulls in the location data via the public Foursquare API, so businesses that want to take advantage should check to make sure their info is accurate on Foursquare.

Place Pins updates

Each Place Pin includes a map preview, and users can tap to access directions using Google or Apple maps; if the place is a business with a phone number, users can access their phone dialer with one tap. The connection features will roll out this week for iPhone and iPad users, Pinterest said, with Web and Android support coming in the future.
