Pinterest and Instagram have become more than just a place for pretty pictures in the eyes of brands. In just three short months, top brand adoption of Pinterest and Instagram rose 10% and 9%, respectively, according to a study by SimplyMeasured. The next closest competitor, Google+ grew at just 4% during the same time period. The study focused in on the growth of Instagram, sharing usage and how the tumultuous relationship with Twitter has affected overall engagement.

One of the most interesting elements of the study was a comparison of Twitter engagement on Instagram photos. Twitter and Instagram had a bit of a falling out that lead to Insagram dropping access to Twitter Card support. The report shows that since that fateful December day, Twitter engagement on Instagram photos has stooped to record lows:

SimplyMeasured also broke down the percentages of Instagram photos shared either to Facebook and Twitter. It turns out that Brands shared 98% of their Instagram photos to Facebook, while just 59% of their Instagram photos to Twitter. The different equates to a 66% more Images heading to Facebook than Twitter.
