Twitter Flutters Past The 200 Million Active User Mark
Today Twitter announced their newest milestone. The 200 million active user mark. The announcement was made in a Tweet earlier today:
There are now more than 200M monthly active @twitter users. You are the pulse of the planet. We’re grateful for your ongoing support!
— Twitter (@twitter) December 18, 2012
The most recent user update was released in March of this year when the total number of active users were 140 million. Of the 140 million users, 60% of them accesses Twitter via a mobile device.
Just last week Twitter released their “This Yeah On Twitter” findings that aptly summed up the year on Twitter (minus the most recent Sandy Hook Tragedy.) Two of the most astounding Twitter stats that support these active user numbers were the 810,000+ retweets of the president’s re-election Tweet and a Tweet from Justin Bieber abouta young fan who lost a battle to cancer that garnered nearly a quarter millions retweets.
Look for continued growth in 2013 and follow @Twitter for the freshest Twitter stats.
