Twitter logoToday Twitter announced they are rolling out updates for their Android, iPhone, iPad, Mac,, and TweetDeck apps. Among the updates for all seven platforms, direct messages will soon be synched across all devices, so that messages marked as read from one device will show up as read on other devices as well.

This update is being released gradually; and, according to Twitter, users must have the most recent version of each app before direct messages will synch across all devices.

Twitter’s mobile search has also been updated so that Twitter users now receive an expanded list of search results with full bios on Android, iPhone, and iPad devices or at From the results list, users can swipe Twitter account previews to the left to see similar accounts. (Twitter offered the example of how a search for the MLB will provide suggestions for ESPN, Ken Rosenthal and other MLB-related accounts.)

The mobile updates also include a new in-app indicator that displays when there are new Tweets from a Twitter account.

Mac users can adjust preferences to show @mentions only, as well as manage notification settings for all interactions.
