Twitter’s redesigned profile pages are now available for everyone. To activate the new feature, sign on to Twitter and click the “Take a Look” button in the banner that should appear at the top of your screen. If it doesn’t, this link will take you to a page to get you squared away (and give you some stock header images choices if you don’t have a good one of your own).

After you’ve made the switch, you’ll notice an enhanced landing area for desktop users who visit your profile. The redesign, which Twitter previewed and applied to selected users earlier this month is being seen as an attempt by the company to make its network more accessible to more people, especially those less technically inclined.

For marketers, there are a few obvious advantages.

Beyond the new cleaner look (helped immensely by the ditching of the background image) and larger header image, the profile offers more entry points for consumers to click, with links to photo and video tweets and favorites now displayed prominently.

Tweets with more engagement will display slightly larger. And the ability to pin an evergreen tweet to the top of the page — previously limited to those with Twitter Ad accounts — is an added bonus.

What do you think? Will the new profile pages entice more users to stay longer on twitter.com?
