Good morning, are you still figuring out CCPA compliance?

On Wednesday, Google announced it will be offering restricted data processing to enable businesses to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). With restricted data processing enabled, Google will act as an affected business’ (advertiser, publisher or partner) data processing service provider. Restricted data processing will restrict how Google uses certain unique identifiers. When applied in Google Ads, features such as adding users to remarketing lists and similar audience seed lists will not be available.

YouTube began beta testing a new ad format – Mastheads ads for its TV app –  globally in September. On Thursday, the company announced YouTube Masthead ads are now available on TV screens for all advertisers to buy on a CPM basis. The format appears over the entire top portion of the TV app, expanding to full-size when a user hovers over the ad. As more and more consumers cut the cord to watch programming via streaming services like YouTube TV, brands must find new opportunities to get in front of consumers via their TV. YouTube’s Masthead ads could give advertisers optimal placement on a TV screen, putting the brand front and center whenever a user launches the app.

Sprinklr, the former social media listening tool that now bills itself as a customer experience platform, has released its latest list of fall product updates. The company says it’s launching more than 400 new features with updates across multiple product lines. There are new integrations with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Trustpilot, a “Smart Compliance” content review feature, a comprehensive planning tool for editorial calendars, and more.

Facebook Dating gets Stories, advertisers get a status monitor

Facebook Dating joins the family. Facebook Dating, a feature of the main Facebook app, now allows users to add Facebook and Instagram Stories to their Facebook Dating profiles. The short-lived Stories format could give Facebook Dating a leg up in the dating app game by allowing users to showcase ephemeral content that tells a natural story about their day-to-day lifestyle and interests. 

Real-time service status monitor. Facebook now has a status monitor that advertisers and social media managers can check to find out if an ad platform is experiencing outages or issues. The simplistically-designed status monitor provides the status of the Facebook Ads Manager platform as well as the service status of tools such as ad creation and editing, ad delivery, and ad reporting. Andrew Foxwell tweeted a link to the status page yesterday, adding that the page has been an ongoing request to Facebook by digital teams. 

Simplifying Lookalike audiences. Facebook is testing the removal of the location field that advertisers use to create Lookalike audiences –  Facebook’s tool for reaching new audiences based on how they compare to existing customers. In the test, Lookalike audiences use locations from ad sets – eliminating one extra step in the targeting setup process.
