Guitar Center has partnered with Grammy Award winning DJ and Producer Zedd for a social media-centered contest entitled “Cover Me,” which will award budding artists a meeting with Interscope Records and $10,000.

Launched May 1, the contest solicits covers or remixes of Zedd’s Billboard hit “I Want You to Know.” Submissions are made on a campaign site powered by social engagement platform Amplifier which “uses the power of the crowd to amplify a brand’s story by incentivizing fans to create and share campaign specific videos for the chance to earn rewards.”

Submitted covers and remixes will be ranked based upon their social engagement and fan/follower growth. Those whose submissions rank in the top 150 will be reviewed by Zedd who will pick the ultimate winner.

That winner will receive studio time with Zedd, a mentoring session with Zedd’s management firm Blood Company, a meeting with Interscope Records, a feature story in Insomniac and DJ magazines, a VIP experience at the 20th anniversary Nocturnal Wonderland Festival, new music equipment from 8DM, GoPro, Native Instruments, Pioneer and QSC and, finally, a $10,000 cash prize.

Here’s a video explaining the contest:

Of his participation, Zedd said:[blockquote]”I am a believer in helping out other artists whenever I can and was excited when Guitar Center approached me about the Cover Me program. I’m looking forward to checking out the submissions and seeing what people come up with for their covers and remixes!”[/blockquote]

Using the hashtag #PlayItForward, Insomniac and Guitar Center are promoting the contest on their social channels and getting some publicity:
