Interactive Site Educates Adults On Prevalence of Cyberbullying Among Children And Illustrates The Power Of Words Needed To Help
The Hungry Boys agency's public service message serves to graphically illustrate the possible consequences of cyberbullying.
Moscow-based agency Hungry Boys created an interactive online campaign to make adults aware of the prevalence of cyberbullying. It’s also aimed at educating people on ways to deal with it.
The site, Words Can Save, is a beautifully-crafted, rich, interactive experience that brings to light the challenges kids face with online bullying. The agency developed the site on its own (no client) to raise awareness of the issue and to demonstrate how important words can be to any child experiencing bullying.
When visiting the website, people are invited to meet and communicate with two teenaged characters, Kate and Mike, via their smart phone or by means of voice recognition. Visitors upload a picture of themselves using their webcam or an already existing image. People then interact with the children to establish their background story.
Both Kate and Mike are close to the edge. They’ve had enough and they need help. The goal is to persuade them not to give up on life by using the right words. It’s an educational experience but visitors do not succeed each time. If they don’t, they are encouraged to try again, which helps educate people on the right things to say when comforting a child who is experiencing bullying.
Once people have successfully come to the aid of Kate and Mike, they can share the results of their efforts across social networks to educate others.

Cyberbullying is cheap and easy to do. The majority of children hide the fact they are being bullied and for the most part, parents are unsuspecting of what is going on. We know that the right words at the right time can prevent a child from harming itself and ultimately save a life.
