According to Parse.ly’s latest Authority Report, Facebook saw a 10 percent increase in referral traffic to publisher websites this August, compared to last August’s referral numbers.

Analyzing data from 10 billion pageviews and more than 100,000 posts across Parse.ly’s network, the report tracked online reading trends to determine peak reading times and referral traffic patterns.

Parse.ly found reading times peaked at 12:18 p.m., with desktop pageviews outperforming mobile views.

Ranked No. 2 behind Google sites, Facebook was the lead social network to send traffic to publisher websites.

The report claims most referral sites saw either little change in traffic patterns, or a decrease between 2013 and 2014. Facebook was only site among the top ten referral sites to experience a significant increase in the amount of traffic sent to publisher websites.

Parse.ly also looked at trends for referral sites grouped by category, and found traffic from social sites was up seven percent, while traffic from search sites decreased four percent.
