Twitter Ads Are Now Available Pretty Much Everywhere

Twitter extends access to its self-service ad dashboard to more than 200 countries and territories. Company also reports it has about 100,000 active advertisers.

Need to advertise in Mongolia, Tajikistan or the Isle of Man? Starting today, Twitter can help with that.

The company announced that is has made its self-service ad dashboard available in more than 200 countries and territories, pushing beyond its previous roster of 33 countries and into just about every market that Twitter reaches.

Twitter also announced that it has approximately 100,000 advertisers, up from the 60,000 it reported last November. Many of those advertisers are the small and medium business owners who are the primary target market for Twitter’s self-serve ad system.

In a blog post announcing the expansion, Richard Alfonsi, vice president of global online sales, made the case for the effectiveness of Twitter ads:

“Since we launched Twitter Ads for SMBs over two years ago, we’ve heard from our clients about how they’ve used our creative, measurement, and targeting tools to drive website clicks or conversions, leads, and app installs or re-engagements. And, with objective-based campaigns, reports, and pricing, it’s easier than ever for SMBs to drive results on Twitter while only paying for the actions that align with their marketing objectives.”

Twitter is playing catch-up to Facebook, which in February reported it has more than two million active advertisers, and is struggling to convince investors that it can pull out of its recent slow-growth doldrums while searching for a permanent CEO.

Today’s announcement means marketers can now target promoted tweets by country to nearly the entire world, in the 15 languages the platform supports. Twitter told us that targeting by state, province and ZIP code will soon be available globally, in the countries large enough to need the feature. Such targeting currently is limited to 18 larger markets, including the US, UK, Indonesia, Australia, Italy and Japan.

Here’s the list of previous countries with access to self-serve ads:

Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, Ecuador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Bahasa Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
